Opening ceremony attended by top executives of the automotive industry

FOURIN’s booth
More than 2,100 companies from 16 countries exhibited their products. The number of exhibitors and the total exhibition area of 200,000m² were both all-time highs compared to past events. The number of exhibited vehicles was 900 units. There were 89 world premiers, of which 75 vehicles exhibited by domestic makers and 14 vehicles by foreign makers. Thirty-seven concept cars were also displayed.
The main theme of this motor show was "For A Greener Tomorrow" whose appeal was low fuel consumption and technological innovation for new green vehicles. Ninety-five green cars were exhibited, such as hybrid, electric, and fuel-cell vehicles.
Chinese automobile production and sales exceeded 13.6 million units in 2009 due to reduced purchase tax and incentives although the global automotive industry and market stagnated as a result of the global economic depression. China has become a key market for global automakers to grow their business; consequently, this year’s Beijing Motor Show was the most important auto show for manufacturers. All luxury car makers, such as Bentley, Lamborghini and Bugatti, attended this show. Local automobile makers presented their new products, launching in the market, electric and plug-in electric models. Geely presented its green technology strategy and exhibited 39 vehicles and 14 engines at its 3,000m² stand.
